Welcome to the Catholic Engaged Encounter 2010 National Convention Website
The Seattle community is working hard at planning the 2010 Convention. We look forward to having the National Catholic Engaged Encounter family visit our neighborhood. See you in October!
Website Rebootment
It helps that my husband, Mike, is a professional Computer Nerd. It’s like what he does – computerly nerdy things. And I’m allowed to brag about our Convention website because: a.) I don’t really have a whole lot to do with its coolness and b.) It’s good to be proud of your spouse’s achievements, and I’m proud of his! (Even if Engaged Encounter websites have, at times, been the other woman in our marriage. OK, not really but “she” has taken up plenty of his time).
Opening Ceremony
OK, I realize that the “Opening Ceremony” to the 2010 National Engaged Encounter Convention will be NO WHERE NEAR the extravaganza that was displayed at the Opening Ceremony for the 2010 Winter Olympics last week. HOWEVER, I couldn’t help but think about the planning and execution of our big event as I watched that big (major, mondo, worldwide!) event. Both are a labor of love.
Valentine's Day
The cynics out there refer to Valentine’s Day as a “Hallmark Holiday” – created and promoted solely for the purpose of doubling the cost of a dozen red roses, running lots of jewelry store ads on TV, and selling massive amounts of chocolate, generic greeting cards, and teddy bears. I, personally, prefer to think of Valentine’s Day as a reminder to all of us to appreciate – and communicate – our love to our spouses, family and friends.
Convention Magic
Something magical took place at our District Convention in Park City, Utah this past summer. Something “magical” always takes place at Engaged Encounter Conventions, but this was a new kind of magic. This was a rip-roarin’, knee-slappin’, arm-wavin’, sweat-drippin’, booty-shakin’ kind of magic that can only REALLY happen at an Engaged Encounter Convention. A dance contest. It was the dance contest to end all dance contests.
2010 – The year to Reboot
A month ago today we were ringing in the New Year. Now, it’s already a little faux-pas and awkward to wish people a “Happy New Year!” You may get some funny looks that say, “Um, dude, you’re a little behind. It’s already been 2010 for like a whole month. Hello! You’re SO 2009.”
