2010 – The year to Reboot

jenny524 - Posted on 31 January 2010

A month ago today we were ringing in the New Year. Now, it’s already a little faux-pas and awkward to wish people a “Happy New Year!” You may get some funny looks that say, “Um, dude, you’re a little behind. It’s already been 2010 for like a whole month. Hello! You’re SO 2009.”

Indeed, the New Year – this 2010 business – is well underway. The beginning of a new something – in this case, a new year – often presents a wonderful opportunity for goal setting and resolution-making. Dictionary.com tells me that a resolution is “a resolve or determination: to make a firm resolution to do something.” With the beginning of 2010, we knew one “something” that we were determining to do this year: put on a ‘lil somethin’ somethin’ called the 2010 National Engaged Encounter Convention.

And in thinking about the New Year and new beginnings, our theme for the Convention seems all the more fitting: REBOOT YOUR RELATIONSHIP. “Reboot” has the connotation of starting over; having a fresh take on something. Sometimes you need to reboot in order to upgrade – to gain new information to improve upon an existing process or situation.

Is there anything that needs rebooting in your life? I know that I, personally, am always striving to improve. The list of things that could use some serious “rebootage” – rebooting-action – is actually quite lengthy. But what is on your list? Is one of your resolutions to renew your faith? To strengthen your relationship with God? Do you want to refocus on your commitment to your spouse? Would you like to give your friends more time and care? Wouldn’t it be an amazing accomplishment to help revitalize your Engaged Encounter Community and this fabulous ministry?! You want to REBOOT, and my friends: the National EE Convention in Seattle, October 1st-3rd, 2010 will be just the place to do that.

Our hard work for the Convention is definitely rebooting. After a brief sabbatical to enjoy the holidays we, your Convention Co-Chairs [Mike and I (Jenny) along with Rich & Sue] have started in on some serious planning. We are blessed with an amazing community here in Seattle and are so thankful for the many offers to help (from our Unit, District…and beyond!) as we pull this big ‘ol hootenanny of a Convention together.

On February 20th, our EE Community will have the “Convention Kick-Off” – a fun planning meeting that, we hope, gives us all a (re)boot kick in the pants! We’ve a lot of work ahead but a lot of excited hard workers ready to do this thang! REBOOT 2010 – here we come!

Check back weekly for additional news. Be sure to sign up on the left of this page to receive important Convention-related updates.

‘Til next time...
Lots of love and prayers,
